Fiberglass (Certainteed, Atlas, Tamko)
Pros
- Class A fire rating.
- Inexpensive compared to other products
- Easy to install
- 25 to 50 yr. pro-rated warranty
Cons
- Short life (15 to 25 yrs.).
- Low resistance to winds.
- Requires solid decking (more expensive to Builder).
- More difficult to find leaks.
- Less aesthetically pleasing than many other products.
- Heavy weight.
- Poor hail resistance (Haag report).
WARRANTY
Fiberglass roofs are identified by their warranty, ie..25yr.,30yr. Etc. Most are prorated and limited on what the cover. Most notably excluded from most all manufactures warranty are the following. See warranty page on the tabs to left for details.

- Not transferable past the original purchaser.
- Does not cover wind over 60 mph., wind over 60 mph voids the warranty. Some go to as much as 83 mph.
- Any roof installed in temps below 42 deg. F. are not covered under warranty until sustained temps above 42 deg. are achieved, ie.. no roofs put on in winter are covered until spring, d. Warranties only cover the shingles, no felt, metal, labor, or any other materials used on the roof.
- Consequential (interior damages) damages due to failure of material.
- Hail.
