Pros

• Moderate life span (20 to 30 yrs.).
• High resistance to wind (110 mph).
• Can be installed over spaced sheathing (less expensive to Builders),
• Easier to find leaks because of spaced decking,
• Aesthetically pleasing,
• 30 yr. Warranty, on some manufacturers
• Fire rating available.
• Moderate hail resistance. Best resistance next to Tile roofs (Haag report).

Cons

• Does not come standard with fire rating.
• Homeowners perceptions due to false reports and cheaper material used
  in the past wood has received an undue bad reputation,
• Moderate price.

WARRANTY

Wood roofing from a major manufacture, as used by most major roofers in KC, are covered by a 30 yr. manufacture's warranty. These warranties have the following exclusions.

• Winds in excess of hurricane force (approx.. 130 mph)
• Transferable 1 time only.
• Consequential damages not covered.
• Only covers shakes, no felt, metal, labor, etc.
• 40 Yr. warranty is available on premium shakes.
• Hail.
